About the Role
We are hiring a Senior UI/UX Designer with strong motion design chops to own the end-to-end experience of our product surfaces — from information architecture and interaction flows down to the micro-animations that make the interface feel alive. You will partner closely with Product and Engineering to define not just what users see, but how it moves, transitions, and responds. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who treats motion as a first-class design primitive, not a finishing layer.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of core product flows, from research and IA through high-fidelity UI and interaction specs.
- Define and evolve the motion language for the product: easing curves, durations, choreography principles, and transition patterns.
- Design and prototype micro-interactions, loading states, empty states, onboarding sequences, and feedback animations.
- Build interactive prototypes in Figma (Smart Animate, Variables, prototyping mode) and, where needed, in tools like Principle, Rive, or After Effects.
- Hand off production-ready motion specs (Lottie files, GIF/MP4 references, keyframe annotations) to engineering with clear timing and behavior documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure motion is implemented faithfully and performs well across devices.
- Contribute to and maintain the design system, including motion tokens, component states, and animated component variants.
- Run or participate in usability research; use insights to refine both static and motion decisions.
- Advocate for accessibility, ensuring motion respects prefers-reduced-motion and does not create vestibular discomfort.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional product design experience, with at least 2 years focused on UI motion and interaction design.
- A portfolio that demonstrates shipped product work AND explicit motion/interaction design — show the before/after, the rationale, and the result.
- Expert-level Figma skills, including Smart Animate, Auto Layout, Variables, and component variants.
- Proficiency with at least two of: After Effects + Lottie, Rive, Principle, Origami, or Framer.
- Strong understanding of easing curves, timing, physics, and animation principles (squash/stretch, anticipation, follow-through, choreography).
- Solid grasp of UX fundamentals: information architecture, user flows, IA, accessibility (WCAG 2.1), and responsive design.
- Experience working directly with developers; comfortable speaking in tokens, pixels, durations, and easing functions.
- Ability to articulate the why behind motion decisions, not just produce aesthetically pleasing animation.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing motion for native mobile (iOS/Android) and understanding platform-specific motion conventions.
- Familiarity with Lottie or Bodymovin workflows in production.
- Light front-end skills (HTML/CSS/JS, or React) to prototype or validate implementations.
- Experience contributing to or building a motion design system / motion guidelines doc.
- Background in 3D tools (Cinema 4D, Spline, Blender) or generative/creative coding (Shader, WebGL, p5.js).
- Past collaboration with brand or marketing teams on motion identity systems.
