Junior Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Planning and Design

• Study architectural and structural drawings.
• Review specifications, dimensions, and construction details.
• Assist in preparing work schedules and construction methods.
• Coordinate with architects and structural engineers.

2. Site Execution and Supervision

• Supervise daily construction activities.
• Set out building lines, levels, and reference points.
• Monitor excavation, reinforcement, formwork, concreting, and masonry.
• Ensure work follows approved drawings and specifications.

Quality Control

• Inspect construction materials and workmanship.
• Check concrete grades, reinforcement sizes, and material quality.
• Arrange slump tests, cube tests, and other required inspections.
• Identify defects and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Safety Management

• Ensure workers follow site safety procedures.
• Check PPE usage and safe working practices.
• Identify hazards and report unsafe conditions.
• Coordinate with the safety officer to prevent accidents.

Cost and Time Management

• Estimate quantities and construction costs.
• Monitor material consumption and labor productivity.
• Track project progress against the schedule.
• Report delays, variations, and additional work requirements.
• Review daily work plans and construction drawings.
• Conduct site inspections before starting work.
• Check dimensions, levels, alignment, and measurements.
• Verify reinforcement, shuttering, and embedded items before concreting.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, supervisors, and workers.
• Check the availability of cement, steel, aggregates, and other materials.
• Monitor concrete pouring, curing, masonry, plastering, and finishing works.
• Maintain daily progress reports and site records.
• Coordinate inspections with the consultant or client representative.
• Report technical issues, delays, and quality concerns to the project manager.
