Desired Candidate Profile

Key Responsibilities

A. Structured Cabling – CAT6/CAT6A

  • Carry out CAT6/CAT6A cable pulling from network racks/patch panels to the respective floor boxes, data outlets and equipment locations.
  • Perform proper cable routing, dressing, bundling and management inside racks, trays and containment systems.
  • Terminate CAT6/CAT6A cables at:
  • Patch panels
  • Data outlets
  • RJ45 connectors
  • Keystone jacks
  • Floor boxes
  • Perform proper labeling of cables, patch-panel ports, data outlets and floor boxes.
  • Test completed data points using suitable LAN/cable testers.
  • Identify and rectify open circuits, short circuits, incorrect pair termination, damaged cables and other physical-layer network faults.
  • Maintain proper patch-cord management and rack housekeeping.

B. Fiber-Optic Cabling

  • Have practical knowledge of single-mode and multimode fibre-optic systems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot fibre-related connectivity problems.
  • Carry out fibre cable routing, dressing and identification.
  • Have practical knowledge of fibre termination, including:
  • Fibre pigtail termination
  • Fusion splicing
  • Fibre patch cords
  • Fibre adapters/couplers
  • Fibre patch panels/ODF
  • SFP/SFP+ modules
  • Carry out basic fibre testing and fault identification using suitable fibre testing tools such as optical power meter, VFL and other available test equipment.
  • Identify fibre link loss, damaged fibre, faulty connectors, patch cords or SFP-related issues.

C. Network Switches & Wireless Access Points

  • Have working knowledge of managed/unmanaged network switches and wireless access points.
  • Install and physically connect network switches and access points.
  • Identify switch ports and trace connected devices.
  • Troubleshoot basic switch-related connectivity issues.
  • Have basic knowledge of PoE/PoE+ for powering access points, IP cameras and other network devices.
  • Install, replace and troubleshoot wireless access points.
  • Assist the IT/network team during switch, access-point and network troubleshooting activities.

D. CCTV Systems

  • Carry out installation, cabling, termination and troubleshooting of CCTV systems.
  • Have practical knowledge of IP CCTV and basic knowledge of analogue CCTV systems.
  • Install and troubleshoot:
  • IP cameras
  • Network switches/PoE switches
  • NVRs
  • DVRs
  • CCTV racks
  • Patch panels
  • Network/data cabling
  • Camera power and communication connections
  • Identify camera communication failures, cable faults, PoE issues, switch-port faults and physical connectivity problems.
  • Assist with NVR/DVR connectivity, camera addition and basic configuration where required.

E-Access Control & Door Communication Systems

  • Carry out first-level troubleshooting of access-controlled doors and associated communication/network issues, including checking connectivity between door controllers, card readers, network switches and the central access-control system.
  • Identify and troubleshoot communication failures such as controller offline, reader not communicating, network link failure, IP/connectivity issues, faulty data cabling, loose/failed termination, switch-port failure and PoE/power-related issues.

The candidate should have good practical knowledge of:

  • CAT6 and CAT6A structured cabling
  • RJ45 and keystone termination
  • Patch-panel termination and dressing
  • LAN cable testing and troubleshooting
  • Network rack dressing and cable management
  • Fibre-optic cabling and termination
  • Fibre pigtails and fusion splicing
  • Fibre patch panels/ODF
  • SFP/SFP+ modules
  • Basic fibre testing and fault identification
  • Network switches
  • PoE switches
  • Wireless access points
  • Basic TCP/IP networking
  • CCTV cameras
  • NVR/DVR systems
  • IP CCTV networking
  • Cable tracing and fault finding
  • Basic ELV and IT infrastructure troubleshooting

Preferred Tools Knowledge

Candidate should preferably be familiar with the use of:

  • RJ45 crimping tools
  • Punch-down tools
  • LAN cable testers
  • Cable toner and probe
  • Fibre cleaver
  • Fusion splicing machine
  • Visual Fault Locator (VFL)
  • Optical power meter
  • Basic OTDR operation/interpretation
  • Labeling machine
  • Multimeter
  • Standard IT/ELV hand tools

Qualification & Experience

  • Diploma/ITI/Technical Certificate in IT, Electronics, Telecommunications, ELV, Computer Hardware/Networking or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of practical experience in IT/ELV/network infrastructure installation and maintenance.
  • Previous experience in large residential, staff accommodation, commercial, hospitality or facilities-management environments is preferred.
