Job description
This is position, mainly responsible for planning construction activities, monitoring project progress, identifying delays, and keeping projects on schedule.
The Planning Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Engineers, QS/Commercial teams, site teams and management and provides accurate information about project progress, delays, resources and expected completion dates.
Main Responsibilities
- Project scheduling: Prepare and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Planning: Review drawings, specifications and BOQs to understand the project scope and develop realistic schedules.
- Resource planning: Prepare and monitor manpower, material and equipment/resource plans.
- Progress monitoring: Track weekly project progress against the approved baseline/program.
- Delay identification: Identify delays, constraints and problem areas at an early stage.
- Critical path: Analyze the critical path and activities that can affect project completion.
- Reporting: Prepare weekly progress reports, schedule updates and management reports.
- Coordination: Collect progress information from site/project teams and update the programme.
- Risk & recovery planning: Analyze schedule risks and recommend corrective actions or work-around/recovery plans.
- Change impact: Assess how variations or changes affect the project schedule.
- Claims/EOT: Prepare delay notices and Extension of Time (EOT) claims, supported by project records and contractual requirements.
- Contract compliance: Ensure planning and claims activities follow the project contract requirements.
