FAQ

Questions teams ask about AI interviews

Straight answers about what HireHouse does, and what it does not do, for startups and recruiting agencies hiring in India, the UAE and the GCC.

The product

What is HireHouse?

HireHouse is an AI hiring platform for startups and recruiting agencies. You post a role, candidates take a live voice AI interview, and you get a scored, ranked shortlist with the recording, the full transcript and the evidence behind every score. Each company also gets a careers site, and roles are listed on a public jobs board.

Who is HireHouse for?

Startups that need to hire without a large recruiting team, and recruiting agencies that screen many candidates for several clients. The focus is hiring in India, the UAE and the wider GCC.

How does the live voice AI interview work?

The candidate opens their interview link, checks their camera and microphone, and talks with an AI interviewer in real time. The interviewer plans its questions from the role and the candidate's CV, asks follow-ups based on the answers, and moves on if the candidate asks to skip a topic. Skipping is never counted against them.

How is this different from a recorded video interview?

In a recorded (one-way) video interview the candidate answers fixed questions to a camera. In the HireHouse AI interview the interviewer listens and responds, so it can probe vague answers, ask for examples and go deeper on the skills the role needs. HireHouse also supports recorded video interviews if you prefer them.

Do candidates need to install anything?

No. The interview runs in a web browser. Candidates need a working camera and microphone, which are checked before the interview starts.

Scoring and ranking

How are candidates scored?

Each role gets a skills rubric generated from its job description: up to eight skills, each with a weight and four written levels. After the interview every skill gets a level, with notes and quotes from the conversation as evidence. You can edit the rubric before you start interviewing.

Can I see why a candidate got a score?

Yes. Each score comes with the evidence behind it: the answers that support it, the full transcript and the recording. The review also shows how many questions probed each skill, so you can see when a skill was never tested.

How does ranking work?

HireHouse compares candidates for the same role in pairs, asking which of the two is the stronger fit, and turns those comparisons into a fit score and a fit band. That gives you an ordered shortlist rather than a pile of separate scores.

Does the AI decide who gets hired?

No. HireHouse scores and ranks; your team makes the hiring decision. You can choose to turn on automation, such as knockout screening questions, or automatic invites and rejections above or below a fit-score threshold. For roles HireHouse sources and runs itself, these automations are always on. Any candidate can ask for a human review of an automated decision.

Integrity and cheating

How does HireHouse check whether answers are credible?

After the interview the AI checks the answers for consistency with the candidate's CV. It reports a credibility score, lists each contradiction with what was said and what it conflicts with, and marks claims it could not verify. Your team sees all of it.

How does HireHouse detect cheating?

During the interview, checks in the candidate's browser look for signals such as no face or more than one face on camera, a phone or a book in view, and the interview window losing focus. Each event is logged with its time, and some keep a still photo for review.

Are candidates rejected automatically for proctoring flags?

No. Proctoring signals are prompts for human review, not proof of misconduct, and they are never used on their own to reject anyone.

Can candidates use another AI tool to answer?

Live follow-up questions make scripted or read-out answers much easier to spot than in a fixed-question test, and the CV consistency check flags answers that do not match the candidate's history. No system catches everything, which is why every flag goes to a person.

Fairness

Is the AI interview fair?

Every candidate for a role is assessed against the same written rubric, built from the job description, and every score is backed by quoted evidence your team can check. HireHouse does not identify candidates from their face and does not analyse emotion, voice or accent.

Does HireHouse use facial analysis?

No. Face detection only checks that one person is present, for proctoring. It does not identify the candidate and does not score facial expressions.

Languages

What languages does the AI interview support?

The AI interview is conducted in English today. The HireHouse site and candidate screens are available in English and Spanish, and more languages are being added.

Does HireHouse penalise accents?

No. HireHouse does not analyse voice or accent. Answers are transcribed and scored on their content against the rubric.

Data and privacy

What does HireHouse keep from an interview?

The recording, the full transcript, the scores with their evidence, the consistency findings and the proctoring events. Recordings are shared only with the hiring company and are not sent to the AI providers.

How long is candidate data kept?

By default, candidate data is kept for 24 months after the candidate's last activity, unless they ask for it to be deleted sooner.

Is candidate data used to train AI models?

No. HireHouse does not use candidate data to train its own AI models, and it does not sell personal data.

Where is data stored, and which laws apply?

The main database is in India. Some services, such as sign-in, speech recognition and the AI models, run in the United States. HireHouse applies India's DPDP Act 2023, the UAE's data protection law and the GDPR, as set out in its privacy policy.

What rights do candidates have?

Candidates can ask to access, correct or delete their data, and ask for a human review of any automated decision, by emailing privacy@hirehouse.xyz. Requests are answered within 30 days.
